Online Timers
Pick a length and press Start — or set your own. Every timer has an alarm, big digits you can read across a room and a full-screen mode.
Preset timers
Set your own time
Which timer should I use?
Each preset page starts with one tap and explains what that length of time is typically used for — two minutes for brushing your teeth, three for a boxing round, twenty for a power nap or the 20-20-20 eye rule. For focused work, the Pomodoro timer runs four 25-minute sessions with breaks in between, automatically. If none of the presets fits, the countdown timer takes any hours, minutes and seconds, and +1 min on every preset adds time as you go.
How these timers keep time
The timers don’t count seconds one by one, which drifts and falls behind in background tabs. When you press Start they save the end time on your device’s clock and show the difference from the current time, so the display is right the moment you look. The alarm is generated in your browser with the Web Audio API — there are no sound files to load — and is scheduled for the end time in advance. The remaining time shows in the browser tab, and the screen is kept awake while a timer runs, where the browser supports it.
